CHANGING BATTERIES - Steve animation

STORYLINE: In a short animation called 'Changing Batteries' we watched, an elderly woman is at home when the postman comes and delivers a big parcel. She puts it in her living room and finds a note on top from here Son telling her "He couldn't make it this year but I got you something". So out comes this robot from a box and she turns it on and it looks at her and she gives it a brush straight away. There is a montage of housework that he does and it comes to him tucking her in at night. The next scene we see is her asleep and the robot watching TV. Then, the robot is fascinated by the Circus advert on the TV. The next day she goes out and comes home with pills from a 'Dr' and she coughs when she sits down. Then the robot comes out with the calendar and then the woman pulls out circus tickets. He is very excited and goes inside, he comes back out and she isn't moving he puts batteries into her pocket but nothing happened. He panics and gets lots more

Peer Review

Josh: "I like your animation, the steps and demonstration to C.P.R are there and clear but they could be a bit longer for people to watch and take in. The words are great and I get that you now don't have to be Superman to save a life which is pretty inspirational. The best way to make this better will be for it to be longer." Noah: "Your animation looks good but I agree with Josh that it has to be longer and maybe clearer demonstrations because you don't the instructions because it is quite quick. I like the quotes and it shows you in each frame what is happening along with the drawings." Jack: Nice animation, I just think that the Superman bit was for kids and not that much for adults. I like the 'CALL 9-9-9' as it shows you to do that first and then the instructions are good. I like the way the whole sentence matches up individually with your drawings."

Idea Development

Collaborate: Get people opinions on your work so that you can find what the people want. Find out and improve your ideas and get rid of some silly ideas along the way. Include their ideas and your own to create the best possible storyline you can for your film. This can apply to anything and not just storylines, so, in editing, in production for example about the way a certain shot looks and if it works. Another one could be if you ask them about your script and if they could read it as a character with you so that it makes sense and hopefully sounds professional. Boundaries: Don't go too over the top with your ideas and make sure that this is as finest work as you can get it. Make it the best you can so that it is not too complex for people. Restrict your ideas and set rules/boundaries for yourself. E.G. Only have 2 main characters. This film is going to be one minute long. Make the film with only 6 people as crew in production.

Photo shoot/Design

For my project, I won't need to have a photoshoot because my magazine is going to have to be photos from the internet since I won't be able to have a photoshoot with people like Henry Cavill, which is who I need for this shoot. The reason for this is, I need to have the photos, and I have a limited time frame so I will reference the photos I used from the internet so that copyright will not be an issue. The answer to the question, how good will the image quality be if I didn't use a DSLR and take the images off the internet? The answer to that is, I will screenshot the image and remember where I got it to use as a reference and I will use the trick where you right click on high image quality and this should help in the presentation of my image and I will edit it in photoshop the colours and lightness of the image.

Mood Board

Image
This is my mood board for my up and coming film 'Expanse'. I created this mood board which shows you all the places I want to shoot at and all the thing I want to be involved in the film. For example, the phone and headphones are there because the way the main character 'Matt' does this is by plugging his headphones into his phone. By doing this he is at work at Bath College and is teleported to outside the college and then to Bath Abbey, and then to Pultney Bridge in Bath. Lastly, he is teleported to the countryside where the trick stops working and he is trapped. That is where the film ends, but the location of Bath College is key since when the headphones are unplugged, he is teleported to college hence his frustration when he is in the countryside and can't get back to college, where he probably has a lesson.

Concept Art

Image
This piece of concept art shows all the things that my film shows. The fact the headphones are magic and allow you to teleport. The fact also, that the title 'Expanse' is in their and how it has been faded. Also the dark mystery of the bottom and 'Directed by George Redstone' fills the gap. I am unsure of the actors at the moment so it might well say 'Starring' so and so. Also, this effects who is on the front cover. That was just to give you an idea of what it will look like for the writing. There is a teenager there with casual clothes which is exactly what will happen in my film. I faded the background around him to suit the mystery like the black at the bottom. I might well include the slogan 'Don't disturb the space-time continuum' in due course.

Soundscape

A1, S1: The office Matt's dad works in should be quiet for that is a place of work. A1, S2: The hallway will be noisy and busy or, depending on the time this is filmed, this will be quiet. A2, S1: The computer room should be quiet and this is a place of work. The outside will be noisy as it is the middle of a city. A2, S2: Bath Abbey will be busy and noisy with all the people walking around. A2, S3: Pultney bridge will be quiet for it is a quiet and peaceful place. A3, S1: The computer room in Bath College will be quiet again. A3, S2: The country will be quiet and not busy at all of there are any people there.

Bath College. This is where the character will be at work from the start. The room in this picture is where he gets teleported back to when the headphones are unplugged. This is the room he could be at home from. I need to have a discrete room not too branded in 'Bath College' signs. So I can consider this room an option. The part he is at home for is really in it for only about 3 seconds when he is handed his headphones. This is the hallway he is greeted at by his friends and colleagues in one of the quick cutaways. He gets teleported outside the college for the first time. Then he always goes back to college where the headphones are unplugged. Up to down of the Bath Abbey. The second location he is teleported to. This is Pultney bridge the third location he is teleported to. Except he will be on the path right by the river. This angle gives you a better perspective of his surroundings, however.  The fourth location is in

F.M.P Ideas

A film focusing on Karting inspired by the likes of 'Rush'. The best part of this project will be how I film it. I will be using my GoPro (underwater camera) if I decide to make this film in the wet. I'll use my drone for ariel footage which could prove to be key for following up on what the shape of the track is, how fast the character is going and how the character is doing on his laps and possibly the race. The main reason for why I want to do this is because I have a hobby in Karting and have always wanted to shed a light on a sport that I think is fantastic and with this film, I can show people some insight into what happens with the attitude people have including the atmosphere that the sport produces and the infliction it has on peoples personalities.

Evaluation

Reflection In this project, I have learned, how to use Illustrator and Indesign a lot better and I've become a lot more at home with using them. Cropping is easier in Illustrator than Indesign because InDesign is more for final design as Illustrator allows you to get creative more with your projects. The reason for this is cutting an object out like for me, the 'P' in 'Empire' on the cover of my magazine I could do that in Illustrator but I don't think I'd be able to do the same thing in InDesign. The thing with InDesign is that it is a lot more for final and finishing touches not for starting from scratch personally. Perhaps I could spend a little more time with InDesign but I did do most of my project in Illustrator. Layout and viewing wise InDesign is better but as I say, I like Illustrator more for the more complicated things. I also developed my skills in layout in general. I used a lot of colours in my magazine so, I feel like the way it turned out w

Magazine

Image
These are the 8 pages of my magazine. My final design is something I am very proud of indeed. I started by creating the cover and using what I did from my draft. I have changed the cover, however, because I changed the font on the bottom it is now much bolder and all white as a pose to white and black like it was before.  Cover (1): The design of this is just like Empire the font, and the 'P' being behind Superman and the red circles on the side are just the same as Empire where it gives you insight into what will be inside the magazine. The 'Justice League' logo is there because in some Empire magazine you have this where they put the font and logo of the film on the front of the cover. Index (2): This is an index to show you where everything is in the magazine. I put this here to clear up anything that might mistake you on where things are supposed to be. This magazine is attempted to be a professional and in al

Draft

Image
From the draft I have created, I have included multiple different colours and fonts. Something I promised myself I would do when planning this. I have used all the fonts I wanted to use and many other things like that. For example, the timeline. This was something I was desperate to do. It tells you what is up and coming from 2017 to 2018. I also did the page on how 4K effects film and this was very interesting. I am happy with how that works. From the background to the colour and which font I used to the information. I am proud of all of this especially the Henry Cavill interview, this to me was one of the most fun past apart from the timeline. I focused on the question I had prepared even though I had to change it a bit to fit the style of my magazine and how it flowed. The part that took the most amount of time is the cover. To get the 'P' how it looks took a lot of effort. I used the same base design from the planning cover and made it better. The 'P' let

Research and Idea Generation

Image
First of all, I made a mood board. Not really sure on what I wanted to do yet, I thought of doing a T-shirt lookbook. My mind was in one place and I still didn't know what I was after. I hadn't expressed all my ideas yet so I went with the first thing I thought of and I looked into what some other people were doing and there were few ideas. T-Shirts with awesome designs such as Geo-Fox and swirly colourful designs. I wanted to mix and integrate what I love and like to go into T-shirts. The difference between these two images is that one is a magazine/lookbook and one is a catalogue. It tends to be the more artistic and exciting design that is usually a magzaine and the more worded and busy that is the catalogue. In this case, it is exactly that. The design advertising the red jacket is the magazine/lookbook and the one advertising the shoes is the catalogue and as you can see around it, there is a lot of writing that makes it busy and includes prices an

Planning

Image
My inspiration for this design comes from the Jusice League movie. I have created this design to work from and build up a first page to work on for my front cover. This Empire design is the kind of thing I am going for. This screenshot is of work I have done in Adobe Illustrator. The 'P' in this design is faded around Henry Cavill/Superman who is also the person who will be my 2-page interview. Like all empire magaine the logo is usually behind the person on the cover so I will do that as well. This is to make this design as like as I can to a real empire magazine. I will try to include all of the things here. This is my storyboard and layout for my magazine. This includes, titles on the cover of the inteview and index on page 2. An 'ad' will be a possibility It depents on how it comes out. In this magazine I will have, a page on techinology in films and how 4K effects the script in modern day. A 2 page interview with Henry Cavill with quesions by me and answers
