CHANGING BATTERIES - Steve animation
STORYLINE:
In a short animation called 'Changing Batteries' we watched, an elderly woman is at home when the postman comes and delivers a big parcel. She puts it in her living room and finds a note on top from here Son telling her "He couldn't make it this year but I got you something". So out comes this robot from a box and she turns it on and it looks at her and she gives it a brush straight away. There is a montage of housework that he does and it comes to him tucking her in at night. The next scene we see is her asleep and the robot watching TV. Then, the robot is fascinated by the Circus advert on the TV. The next day she goes out and comes home with pills from a 'Dr' and she coughs when she sits down. Then the robot comes out with the calendar and then the woman pulls out circus tickets. He is very excited and goes inside, he comes back out and she isn't moving he puts batteries into her pocket but nothing happened. He panics and gets lots more batteries. Then we hear a dark sound and we know she is dead. 5 Days later on the calendar, the robot is in sorrow. He sits outside and then he shuts down. But he wakes up and sees the old woman and he is so happy. Then they go to the circus together in heaven.
OPINION:
I found a meaningful message in the animation in the fact that there is always happiness at the end and death is something to not be feared because it could work out okay. The thing is, the Son should have been there in the first place so he will feel especially bad when he gets the news. I thought that this also said to never quit on your family because they are valuable. I think this is the message everyone else got at well.
