Reflection
In this project, I have learned, how to use Illustrator and Indesign a lot better and I've become a lot more at home with using them. Cropping is easier in Illustrator than Indesign because InDesign is more for final design as Illustrator allows you to get creative more with your projects. The reason for this is cutting an object out like for me, the 'P' in 'Empire' on the cover of my magazine I could do that in Illustrator but I don't think I'd be able to do the same thing in InDesign. The thing with InDesign is that it is a lot more for final and finishing touches not for starting from scratch personally. Perhaps I could spend a little more time with InDesign but I did do most of my project in Illustrator. Layout and viewing wise InDesign is better but as I say, I like Illustrator more for the more complicated things. I also developed my skills in layout in general. I used a lot of colours in my magazine so, I feel like the way it turned out was as professional as I could get it without going over the top.
I enjoyed this project, the best thing that helped me grow in my development was Illustrator. Now I'm much happier to use that and has opened my mind to more future ideas in other projects and being more familiar with this has helped me massively especially some of the individual tools. For example how you can use the line segment tool to immediately draw straight lines and curved lines without having to draw a slim rectangle or a circle and erase it saved a lot of time.
Peer Assesment Review:
Josh Northeast:
"The index is a bit boring, maybe some more pictures generally everywhere and some of the colours don't go with the background like on page 7. The cover is great, and I wouldn't make any changes to that. The back page is difficult to read the handwriting font and I'd also put the writing in the middle of the page."
Jack Friend:
"I like this design a lot however there are some things which could be improved on if George was to undergo a project like this again. One of the constant problems I found with this magazine was how pixelated some of the photo's and fonts were, for me this was a MAJOR problem with the magazine and the printing. This magazine could have a lot fewer fonts as it tends to make the magazine look messy and untidy.
On the other hand, I was a very big fan of the front page the use of the 'Justice League' font is genius and has nice touches like the 'P' in Empire with supermans head going through it, even though the P has been slightly misplaced this has shown George's creative side."
Noah Rombach:
"I like the front cover as the title stands out but the image is a bit pixelated. I don't like the arrow-lines since it is not clean. The 3rd page is nice and readable but the image is pixelated. On page 4 & 5 I think you could put the name on both pages and clearer colours on it as well. And perhaps you could underline the questions to make it clearer in 5. The Superman logo is cut off as well. For 6 & 7 I think you should have better ratings for the films so just bolt them up so people don't think that it's nothing. And the last page is fine and good colour."
