In Assignment 1 Task 1, I created four ideas to work from and my top three was a Documentary, a Horror Short and an Action Short film. The inspiration for the Documentary will be 'Top Gear' and 'The Grand Tour', the inspiration for the Horror will be 'Winchester', and the Action Short would be inspired by 'Taken'. Documentary I will do a review and overlook on Caterham cars. From top to bottom, a Documentary about the community that comes with owning one, the history, the Statistics & Facts about all of their accomplishments. One of the most undervalued supercars on the road needs to have a light shed on. This would include things like Vox Pops & Interviews talking about debatable subjects like 'Westfield' which are a manufacturer that look identical to Caterham which have basically stolen their idea.  There is a lot of love for Caterhams, there are these car meets that sometimes see hundreds of people turn up to. I came up with a sum total of 4 ideas. Documentary Scenario/Idea: A documentary contains a lot of real things filmed at the moment and not scripted like a movie like vox pops and interviews. In my particular idea, I thought about how I could make one based on Caterham's and developing peoples knowledge about them. I would like to shed a light on not just my favourite car but also, something that could inspire people. This is a car that goes from 0-60mph in 2.75 seconds! I want to allow the audience to respect this car and develop a connection through this documentary. Not just that, but being knowledgeable on the matter for I find that this is a great subject for people to know about. Here is a mode developed spider-diagram: Positives I think this idea is strong, for the fact that there is a lot of potentials to build on with this. I can already see this happening since I find that it will be the most practical of the four to film. I hope to accomplish a con

CONTEXT - FMP

RESEARCH I have reviewed many documentaries amongst other short college made films and I feel like the 'Moving Image' path and a documentary is what I will do. I worked on an FMP documentary last year (Level 2) which earned a distinction for the particular student. I did a short film and that was successful. I have been Inspired to do one of these documentaries for w while and I will take this chance to show off my skill in making one. I have experience with vox pops and editing documentaries from helping others but I never got around to actually doing one. I have watched many and in particular, 'Top Gear', 'The Grand Tour' and the one I worked on, 'My Experience Being A Gashead' on YouTube. I know the type of thing I am aiming for and I will look to create one long review and documentary. The thing I want to express is, how much of a fanbase it's got and how it's one of the fastest cars in the world that has slipped under the radar. I wa

Evaluation - EXPANSE

In my film, I had a few bits of feedback (peer assessment review) which were mostly positive. They mentioned the sound and how it differs to one side and I explained: Peer-Assesment-Review Josh "I think this film in nice! I love the way in the teleportation scenes, the background is there and I am gone or when I arrive it does the same. The last pano out in the aerial shot was really cool and I like how the credits join with the music. The only thing I would say to improve this is would be to edit the sound so that it isn't one-sided." In review, the sound being one-sided is actually on purpose. You see, the sound is on the left at the start, so is everything in the shot. So since the visuals are coming from the left the sound does too. I also notice that the aerial shot is mentioned and that is something I prided myself on in the 'Shot List" blog and I feel as if I accomplished all I needed for this to work along with the music in sync w

Sounds

When doing my Recce I had an advantage in the weather being sunny and calm winds. I hope that when I shoot this film the weather isn't as such and that it is actually drizzling. I hope for this because it shows how far he is away from everything and how different it is to the busy city that he is previously in. The only problem is sound, and how it will be windy which means that there will be a lot of muffling and perhaps you won't hear my actor say his lines. I will try my hardest to pick the correct time so that this is prevented.  I will use foley sound techniques for things like walking on carpets on to hardwood floor. I plan to have my main character walk into the college and beep his card onto the wall to allow him in. Except for the place he inters is actually an exit. So setting this up and timing the way he will come in will be tricky. I will do two bits of foley for this. I will record the 'beep' on the wall to exit college to put in as him entering. I wi

Shot lists

Image
The shot types I will use in my film are: Close-ups extreme close-ups medium wide establishing aerial medium wide cutaway follow panoramic dolly zoom tilted low angle high angle These are the best shots to use in my film for the fact of it being a film about teleporting, things like aerial shots are going to be useful. I think that a tilted low angle shot is not just artistic but it can add mystery and capture the audience into the film. I think that now I have a drone, the aerial shot is a big one that might be able to edge that extra bit of emphasis on the film. It can be used in so many ways but in my case, I will use it as an establishing shot and as I say, an aerial shot. The end credits will be an aerial shot like at the end of 'Fast and Furious 7':

Animation Review 2

The Sun: In a quick animation about the sun killing a lot of things like wildlife, plants and all different beings, we see the fact that a man representing humankind is able to get away from the sun as he can escape the sunlight by hiding in the shadow of a tree. The sun goes around the tree but can't see the man still. So the sun gets a cloud and puts it in front of the tree so it hides behind it and it starts to rain, then the man comes out. The man is happy that the sun is gone so he starts dancing. Then the man starts running away and the moon shoves the sun out of the way as it then becomes nighttime. The Forrest: In another animation I watched, there is a young girl who is sick of the negativity in the world as she thinks everything is a con and she thinks school is brainwashing and she goes home to her angry father. You'd think she is right up until she is then put into a special school but she didn't tell her father. Eventually, he found out and sent her to a

Second Cover

Image
For a second magazine cover, I created something I think actually works a bit better. The best thing about this cover is I've had a lot of compliment by random people who have seen my previous cover and told me how it was stronger than the other cover. The fact it is symmetrical helps along with the hardcore look on Henry Cavill's face. The suit and colour are all darker explaining the theme of the cover. It is also different in the fact that the '+' is now "Exclusive Interview With Henry Cavill" instead of it being in the red circles that Empire have and that is the only thing that is missing. The title of the cover is daring and it goes with the harsher tone of this alternate cover. It is a bold and stand out claim that stands out and allows an appreciation for the image behind it that has the same expression. The 'Empire' is also different as a pose to the 'M, P and I' drooping over the shoulders like the other one did. This time th
