Types of FMP research
In my FMP I will conduct 4 types of research. Primary, Secondary, Quantitative and Qualitative. For my Secondary research, I will watch Top Gear and The Grand Tour and visualise my project in a way that will allow me to see how my project will look since my inspiration is these two programmes. I will also do a case study on a director that worked on both.
I will find Caterham information & statistics and reflect on them to enable me to prepare myself for the up and coming Documentary. If I already have these or at least some stats lined up then I will be will be prepared moving into the pre-production part of this project. I will also find some people to interview in a focus group for Primary Research, this will also include me reading lowflying magazine to find more information.
I will conduct a survey to determine my target audience which is Primary Research and find the opinions of what people expect and what people like about the type of film I am going to make. This survey will cover everything I need to know about my target audience. I will find out whether I have a predominantly male audience who are (for example) 30-35. In creating this and completing this survey, I will record the answers and this will allow me to create an accurate focus group in which will tick all the boxes that the survey suggested. I hope that this doesn't turn into Qualitative Data since they way people answer the question might not be genuine. This could turn into opinion and cause people to say their feelings. It depends on the questions asked by me of course and the answers they can choose from since it will be multiple choice.

In the Secondary Research, I will find out as many Caterham stats as I can at this stage. This will enable me to prepare for the film and have some ready and in the bank. I will be better prepared at this stage then. Causing more organisation allowing me to move forward with this project. Not only will I do that, I will find the history of Caterham as well. Most in not all of these stats and facts will be said and used in my film. I feel as if that would be pre-production already. I need to find some lap times of the Caterham beating some supercars to prove it should be put in this category as well. I will need something shocking that the audience will be surprised by when said in my film. I will do a case study on of the director of the Grand Tour. More specifically, I will find a youtube clip of what my film will be more or less exactly like. I will find the technique the director uses and depict what makes it work and the kind of filter I have in mind. I will also do research on Lowflying by reading through some magazines to find both up and coming events as well as the version where my father was in. I will talk about this because it is important to the inspiration of this film. Also, that is the car that will be in my film. This is also mixed with Quantitative Research because I am finding statistical numbers and hard data because they are facts.
