STORYBOARD
To plan my FMP shooting and to help me prepare for my script, I have done my storyboards. The first one is the plan and basically, index to all the ones I did. I have split my film up into 6 sections that are all equally detailed, I have made myself think ahead as well. This gives me a very nice ground to build on for my planning for my shoot because with this, I know what my film will be about. Since My film has to be 25-30 mins, 30 ÷ 6 = 5. This means that I can only spend 5 minutes on each section which is a nice crisp whole number for me to say everything in. This means that the voice overs are a huge part and to make my script for that, I will be referencing this to remind myself of my style and also give me ideas for what to say. I have given myself a valid amount of time since I think that getting my point across in 5 minutes is enough depending on the speed of which I pace my film at.
In my introduction, I plan to set the pace and give people a taste of what is to come in the film, I might just even say I will be covering all these subjects. But it starts off with the badge and then the car zooms across and I start talking in my voice over. I want to establish what this is about and who it is for using my tone and measuring the complexity of language. It is crucial I do this otherwise the whole film will be a mess because the audience won't know where I'm coming from. I will get straight into the artistic shot side of things and make it as visually pleasing as possible. The editing will play a big part in this. Then I will move into history fairly abruptly so that I can get to the point of origin quickly which will help the audience understand more about it early on.
Moving onto history, I will be basically talking about the origin and what made Caterham. I will mention the famous Caterham that beat the Veyron but that will be mostly saved for later in the stand-up. I will use stats about their first year and there will be more detail on the early racing added into the script. In fact, this is only a quarter of what will be said in the script since it is the basic outline of what will be said. I will flick from voice-overs, to stand up in this allowing me to show the audience using the camera what I'm talking about to help them understand. I will be talking about Colin Chapman amongst how Lotus progressed with his idea and made a Series 1, 2 and 3. This is important to mention Lotus since they are partly famed for the 'Lotus 7'.
In this part, this is what will pride the film. Along with the informative history, this is the most cinematic part of which I can show off my camera skills. I like how this gives me the freedom to express the car's aesthetically pleasing and outstanding parts. I will get the drone out and film with that and do some standing shots with the low angle and high angle techniques to show the car's pace off and make it look as fast as possible even if that means speeding it up in editing. I will also use this part to speak about the R500 and its statistics. I might include other people's voices to say some quotes that could be put in their if I don't say them myself.
This is the last part of the film and the final part of the showboating comes into this as it goes into a review then. I will keep this part cinematic but I will talk about what the experience of having one is and then the community come with that so that is the last part as well. I want to film some cars in a convoy so that people can see what it's like and how cool it looks. Especially when grouped up and going fast, it is something very special and awesome to see. I want to get that in my film as it will exoress the community factor of why people do it. This bit is aimed to also be a little touching since I hope it plays with people emotions and makes them want a Caterham or at east have respect for one enough to see them as a special car.
