Market Research - Jo

85% of christmas cards are bought by women and that means only 15% are bought by men. I will make something that appeals to women
In the 19th century, the Post Office delivered cards on christmas day in the UK. Postmen were often known as robins because of their bright their bright red uniforms and robins became a popular christmas card motif. Therefore I will include an animal factor to try and link religion and the animals.
This card is of a couple of penguins that are obviously in love or something like that, and I think that because of the font, the design and the maturity of this that you'd send this to one one your parents or both. The font is nice an its quite jazzy. Probably something like what I want to use. Complex but simple meaning legible. The 'Special Couple' bit I mean. I love the design art of the penguins it give the card maturity to the card. It has a lot of pizzaz of which I'm going to need for my card with this market research. It also doesn't have any obvious religious significance either. There is a small christmas tree in the middle of them both. I think that it is about no matter how little, there is always a way to find love and that is why it has a religious link. Love is always involved with christmas and therefore it is a key part.

Colour was added in the 1820's to engraved boarders. This will result in me doing the same to the edges of my card design.
Since they are a tradition nowadays a lot of people need christmas cards. My design will be for the people who keep to this tradition and to those who put thought into their cards.
This has no font and a complex design so perhaps it has the font and the words inside so perhaps you'd send this to your grandparents since this is a more artistic and mature card to send to someone. The is colour added to engraved borders. There is a bit of Market research intelligence that can help my design with this card example. In fact the animal factor may help me because I have an idea of linking the nativity to an animal approach. Although it lacks font but the design would work well with a Veranda font because of the shape that would link up well with the art because of the curls and elegance of it. There is no religious relevance to this except love which is one of the key parts of religion.

1.5 billion christmas cards are sent in the US each year. My design will have to make the cut to appeal to that many people.
I think that this card would be sent to a child because it has a child's icon from a disney movie. The font could be less complex to make it that bit more suitable for a child since they might not be able to read this font. I like the font also, because it has a nice christmassy touch to it. As we mentioned we all like the twirls and twists because it's got a sensible sense to it. In this card I can't see any religious significance since there is nothing to be obviously told that it does have any relevance to religion. This could show love to the children because it is a character they love but there really isn't and religious part to this card. I will make my card loving and caring just like how the children would treat this character. I know this because I've seen the movie that this character is from. He is a loving and humours character to all. And so henceforth this reaches out to children. That is how I can use market research to help my design.
