Reflection On UNKNOWN

In my movie (Caller Unknown) I have really put a lot of effort into this. I feel that it has the perfect balance between funny and serious. With the help of fantastic acting by Ieuan Potten who plays the main character 'I', I was enabled to have a great movie because of his extremely good performance. I feel as though that scene when he walks form the doors around to Ash his friend after taking the call, he did that in 1 TAKE!! that was a lot of lines and i'm proud to have had such skill in my favour.

In the scene where he is on the computer. These are flashbacks that he has from downloading the files so the audience are then intrigued as to what he is doing. We find out at the end and also earlier on in the movie when he says "finally, government files" we know these are flash backs.

I understand how some of the audio echoes in the fight scene but that simply could not be helped. But apart from that I think it did quite well. Especially the music. The music intensifies and softens which helps create the balance I was talking about before.

I liked making this film but at the start, I was aiming for a comedy and I guess it is a bit of both.  From target 3.1 I learned new and interesting shot types such as, a low angle looking up and the high angle looking down which are great to use because they show how a character is feeling. For example, the low angle looking up can show that a character is feeling intimidated and a high angle looking down is the person providing the argument. I learned this through watching 'A few good men" in the "You can't handle the truth" scene.  In my film, I use the low angle facing up to the girl so the guy in the chair was feeling intimidated. For the product assessment, I have asked 4 people to write a short paragraph stating what was good and bad about my film and what I could change. I did this not only because the brief requires it but out of personal interest to see what people made of my film. I was very intrigued by what they thought of it and not for them to just say 'good' but go into detail and perhaps pick my film apart. This method has definitely proven worthy in the past as I have had much feedback on previous short films explaining not only what was wrong but why it was wrong which helped me learn a great deal about me as a director and learn a lot more about my film. I have learned many valuable lessons such as; 'Always keep your target audience in mind' and 'keep the camera work as smooth as possible if it's a crucial scene.'
