The Ark - Animaton

In this film called the Ark, there is a troubled man at the start who finds out he has a disease. Through the film, he walks out through this big freighter that holds many people like him. We know that because there was a nurse at the start caring for a patient, which seems like the ships medical centre when he keeps walking past them so in effect he was in, not a mental home, but a mental ship. 

He holds this gun and walks through the ship like he knows where he is going. This could be because he has done it before. I don't know whether he has dementia or not but he definitely has something. I felt like this film was depressing. This was all grey, dark and very gloomy which gave away that this is not a happy film. In the end, he is on the top of a building and is going to do the same thing again. he has a gun in his hand but when he puts it in the tray as an old man it's a door knob.

The animation was great, the characters moved with a flow and there was not a single bit of overlap. I think this was a professional job since it reminded me of Disney animation. It was a touching story helped by the animation.

Opinion from pitch My pitch was great! I know that I must be more vigilant and thoroughly plan my project out, and I will up my game to aim for the Distinction grade. I know it went well because I knew my point was getting across. The point of this film is the fact that the 'Caterham' is an under-rated underdog supercar that people have overlooked. Or just simply that people don't know about it. So I will teach them not just about the car but the community and the whole prospectus. I liked making this film but at the start, I was aiming for a comedy and I guess it is a bit of both.  From target 3.1 I learned new and interesting shot types such as, a low angle looking up and the high angle looking down which are great to use because they show how a character is feeling. For example, the low angle looking up can show that a character is feeling intimidated and a high angle looking down is the person providing the argument. I learned this through watching 'A few good men" in the "You can't handle the truth" scene.  In my film, I use the low angle facing up to the girl so the guy in the chair was feeling intimidated. For the product assessment, I have asked 4 people to write a short paragraph stating what was good and bad about my film and what I could change. I did this not only because the brief requires it but out of personal interest to see what people made of my film. I was very intrigued by what they thought of it and not for them to just say 'good' but go into detail and perhaps pick my film apart. This method has definitely proven worthy in the past as I have had much feedback on previous short films explaining not only what was wrong but why it was wrong which helped me learn a great deal about me as a director and learn a lot more about my film. I have learned many valuable lessons such as; 'Always keep your target audience in mind' and 'keep the camera work as smooth as possible if it's a crucial scene.'
