Animations review

Pyramid Scheme. In an animation about how to spot a pyramid scheme we were told that it depends on having one distributor at the top of that chain that makes money off of people trying to buy and sell their product which is a scam because there is no guarantee that you will make money from this business and it is more likely that you will have to put money into the business yourself meaning, that you will put in more than you get out. The animation was good it was drawn out and then put together in an animation. I like the way it was drawn, it was clear and not too complex. There was narrator telling us what the pyramid scheme was and the whole thing had been explained clearly. The Man. Another animation that we watched showed us that since the beginning of time we have been using recourses from the planet and killing animals and in this case, killing them for pointless stuff such as a plaque, mat,  boots or even a coat. Showing us that we can't keep shooting and killing an

Magazine Project

Image
My magazine project will be a mock-up version and my take on 'empire' magazine. I am going to include an interview with an actor about a film and their personal life etc. I will also include new TV shows and new movies with my recommendations included. I plan to show a timeline of all the new movies and tv shows from now to January 2018 and what is currently shooting, also, what will come out next year. I plan to take on the topic of how technology effects film and if it effect storylines. I want to talk about how scary good 4K is and how much Netflix  use and make film and TV shows in 4K. I want to focus on Superman and him on the Empire front. I willl of course, do my pwn version but these are some one I found that have inspired me. I will do a 'Justice League' version which has not been done yet. I intent to have my version with a different background. Maybe something that tells the auidience that this is different so meybe he could be in the

Negatives for Wonder Woman

According to the ' Rolling Stone ' website, the critics are saying these negatives about the film, Opinions: 1. She gets manipulated constantly 2. She's judged on her looks 3. She's compassionate which is somehow treated as a weakness 4. She keeps pain to herself 5. Didn't break the gender stereotypes. Also, men here are literally explained to be bad by their poisoning from Ares. Conclusion & Reflection: This film has told the world how Wonder Woman's character has and hasn't broken gender stereotypes. In a way, they are right as men are seen as the enemy for the first part of the film before Steve Trevor enters the film and turns himself to be a hero at the end of the film by sacrificing himself. Some of what they said was true however, she does keep pain to herself and she does show compassion which is clearly shown as a weakness by Ludendorff. The fact that this happened in the film can come off as unfair to women as being treated poorl

Short film reviews and tipping points

Act 1 In a forest  Tipping point  Hacked down Act 2 Transported Act 3 Christmas Tree 90 seconds. Act 1 Goes to white cliffs of Dover Tipping point Meets Woman Act 2 start talking Act 3 She is suddenly alone 90 seconds. Act 1 Woman in washing area asleep  Act 2 She puts washing in Tipping point He crawls out of washing machine Act 3 Hold hand out to shake hands Depict: Using Depict, a website filled with 90 second long short films. I watched many films and some of them weren't of my appeal. Of course, they are good because the website shows you that they have won awards but for me, some of them weren't that great. The one I liked the most was Vudu. Act 1 A woman enters the room with a box and many stuffed toys. Act 2 She sits down with some children and hands them out. Tipping point There is a smaller box inside the main box that is filled with pins of which the chil

Narrative structure

Image
Act 1                                   v                               Act 2                                      v                            Act 3                                 Tipping point                                                           Tipping Point   In films, you have 3 act structure where it is basically a beginning a middle and an end. But in between those acts you a have point in which the story changes that provides an action point for the next act and it is where the story changes. This is one of the dramatic events in which you change the story for effect and to either completely change it or lead the film to another scene. In 'Wonder Woman' the first tipping point is where the plane crashes and she has to rescue and save the drowning pilot. Before this point, she is training to fight but she didn't know she had powers and she devastated her opponent with a huge blow. Still learning she is eager to find out more about what she can

Linear and Non linear

Image
Linear means chronological, so this is where a film is played out and the storyline doesn't change to go to previous time whereas Non-linear is where the storyline goes back and forth which is non-sequential because the time changes. This means that when you have a film like Pulp Fiction which changes in the time of storyline all the time this would be seen as non-linear. So when you have a film like Alladin that doesn't change in time this would be seen as chronological. The best reason for having a non-sequential film is to tell the whole story before and after the main event of the film. Or you can have a non-sequential film where the film plays back in order so, this would be where a film starts at the back and works it's way to the start of the film Momento. Another example is La La Land where the whole film was all a dream this is non-linear.

Women in film

A stat taken by me from ‘Women in Film 2016 thumbs down’ showed that only 27% of writers were women in 2016 and only 24% of women reviewed films. This improved form 2014 where there was only 11.2% of women were writers. This is disappointing. Personally, this stat should be higher. It’s not that men are better than say, directing. Take Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman. This film is now the highest grossing movie of all time. Stats: Only 27% of writers are women 24% reviewers are women So this means that women are: 26% Are critics 41% Staff writers 43% Romance writers for movies 27% Comedy writers 22% Horror writers 23% Action writers 16% Sci-Fi writers 23% Drama writers Men outnumbered women in every job title categorised in writing. In the top 100 grossing films of 2016 Women were: Women are 4% Directors 19% Producers 14% Editors 3% Cinematographers 11% Writers Women account for 52% of moviego

Plant eating butterfly

Image
In this animation made in Adobe Animate, there is a short film made about a flower try and succeeding in eating a butterfly in which the plant at the start grew and grew to become full-sized and then the butterfly entered into the scene and the plant followed it. This then was followed by the plant then eating the butterfly. I noticed that the start and end of the positioning of the plant are pretty much the same. This will represent the way you edit this while making it in Animate. Then I looked into how this was made in editing and I turned 'Onion Skin' on. This showed me the pattern in the process of which the maker edited this. It is interesting to see how and where the butterfly has gone and where they wanted it to fly. Not only this but the flower moves with the butterfly to follow it's path and strike to then eat it.

Movie review - Sherm the worm

A clay worm that is animated via stop-motion shows us important things to do in your house. He tells us how and what to do such as turning the lights off when you leave the house and switching your phone off when charging at night. This character creates a friendly environment for kids and some adults as well because Sherm the worm seems like a fun atmosphere for all ages, but especially for kids since adults tend not to watch animations. Even though he is a child-friendly character, this animation can point to everyone since the things he pointed out things that are important and can apply to everyone. When you are of a certain young age, you can relate to these things and are more often than not, get shown these types of videos to help.

Lookbook project week 1

Image
Magazines: Magazines are about opinions by information and how they are viewed by the majority of the population. Lookbook: A brief leaflet shortly explaining and showing off new products. Catalogue: To sell and show all the products. My magazine idea: Today I found different designs in T-shirts. I had to find different ones and make a mood board about things we like. I thought originally that I could design different T-Shirts and make a lookbook about them but when it came to noting down how and why I wanted to do this, I couldn't. Then I looked into Karting, my other passion, and still, I wouldn't e able to expand on this any further than Just F1 and the rise through the ranks that can happen. So after evaluation, I gave in and went all out on my one, true passion for becoming a film director. So then, I went on to point out how TV and Film aren't so different. This is because the future could be both in the form of home cinema. By this, I mea

Importance of a Recce

Image
To find out more information for our new Sci-Fi film we came up with the idea of aliens in the Royal Crescent. This was mostly because of the fact there is broken land and it's in the curved shape so this is mysterious and seems alien in its self. The scenery is lovely so my team and I would love to use a drone to capture this over the top of some very high tree because otherwise, you would not be able to see the scenery because of the size of these trees. It is important to scout these locations to make your film the very best it can be. This is why we went to the crescent, to get the scenery and the broken land and to possibly make it into an alien film since the genre we were given is Sci-Fi. The first thing that comes to your mind when Sci-Fi is mentioned is aliens and the point of our film will be that the characters know that there is something alien there but the film will be built up in suspense as to what that thing is. These characters will consider the broken land an

Shot types

Image
Medium Over- shoulder Close up Wide Medium, close up Establishing Extreme close up (Cutaway) Longshot 180-degree rule High angle Low angle Extreme long shot Aerial Birdseye (pano) Depth of field Dutch tilt (dolly zoom) I found all these shot types and have been inspired by them to use in future films and for a current short film that I am making (3.2). I am a big fan of the low and high angle shots because they tell a story. By this, I mean that they show how a character feels with intimidation on the low angle looking up and then the way the high angle looking down displays how the other character feels. This could be interesting because you could use a two-shot or a medium shot to show more than one person being intimidated or providing the argument. New shots to me Noddy Shot For interviews/vox pops or when you want a shot intensely on a character Weather shot A shot of the sky, or background that would be an establishing shot
