Winter animation - The Lost Elf

In my winter animation, my partner Alex and I used drawing at first because we knew it wold be effective. We like the fact that there can be a moving picture and even though this has taken a long time to do, we feel like it is time well spent on a project that we can't wait to see how it finishes.
The drawing is fun because we sketched through A3 paper to get the same shapes of the images each time. That was the hard part, but now we are going to use plasticine for the Christmas present. We haven't yet got onto the plasticine yet, because using the paper drawings has taken a long time and so we are close to it.

Our animation is going to be called the lost Elf because he is trapped in a box, and finds his way out. This is supposed to send a message to people that no matter how deep and bad your life is at the moment, there is always a way out. And this is supposed to inspire people to be confident in life.

Opinion from pitch My pitch was great! I know that I must be more vigilant and thoroughly plan my project out, and I will up my game to aim for the Distinction grade. I know it went well because I knew my point was getting across. The point of this film is the fact that the 'Caterham' is an under-rated underdog supercar that people have overlooked. Or just simply that people don't know about it. So I will teach them not just about the car but the community and the whole prospectus. I knew this was getting across since my presentation was explaining it. Ed told me that my presentation was good so I could tell he knew what I wanted to do. 60 Seconds

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKNi9IYfMTc In my 60 second video, I chose to go with tension as my genre. I haven't tried tension and it was something I wanted to do. I liked making this film but at the start, I was aiming for a comedy and I guess it is a bit of both.  From target 3.1 I learned new and interesting shot types such as, a low angle looking up and the high angle looking down which are great to use because they show how a character is feeling. For example, the low angle looking up can show that a character is feeling intimidated and a high angle looking down is the person providing the argument. I learned this through watching 'A few good men" in the "You can't handle the truth" scene.  In my film, I use the low angle facing up to the girl so the guy in the chair was feeling intimidated. For the product assessment, I have asked 4 people to write a short paragraph stating what was good and bad about my film and what I could change. I did this not only because the brief requires it but out of personal interest to see what people made of my film. I was very intrigued by what they thought of it and not for them to just say 'good' but go into detail and perhaps pick my film apart. This method has definitely proven worthy in the past as I have had much feedback on previous short films explaining not only what was wrong but why it was wrong which helped me learn a great deal about me as a director and learn a lot more about my film. I have learned many valuable lessons such as; 'Always keep your target audience in mind' and 'keep the camera work as smooth as possible if it's a crucial scene.'
