1.2 Media Panel

Attitude : In the media panel held at bath college, I found out so much of how and what I need to do to get to the top of my field. In my case, I want to be a director and I am motivated to be so with great passion. So according to the panel, I have the correct attitude. They said: "If you're enthusiastic, you will work your way up". Also, they say "If you stick with it and you learn from your mistakes you can be the next person" This shows me about how my attitude should be and how to approach this industry. I find this helpful because I think that the best way to operate in the industry is to be "enthusiastic" and work my way up to "be the next person". This essentially means that I can be at the top of that field if I have the right attitude. Education: All of the panellists have got degrees and been to university. Not necessarily in Film and Media, however. One of the panellists got into writing and directing even though she had a b

Christmas Animation Reviews.

The night before Christmas. In this drawn animation, we see a girl child was looking for Santa when she heard noises in her living room. She looks through the door when she put it ajar. Then she is star struck by what she saw as she noticed this animal/beast/monster on the roof, that ate the whiskey bottle and came out with presents at the other end. He escaped via the chimney and the little kid is then terrified by this and she is then lying in bed all shaken up. Christmas comes but once a year this starts off with a 3D panoramic shot of a house that they would have used a model to shoot that and get that shot. Then, we see the orphanage where there are lots of excited children because it is Christmas and they get out of their beds singing "Christmas comes but once a year" but sadly all their toy presents all break. Then we see this character on a sleigh come in and he is singing the same song but stops outside the orphanage because he hears lots of children crying so

Work Experience

Why work experience is important? Work Experience is vital going into the business of media. You should be able to find out so much more of what will happen in that particular workplace. The point is to simply know what you are going into for your future and finding whether that is the right job for you. The knowledge you gain from work experience allows you to put that on your C.V and then when you apply for your next job in that industry (especially media) you are more likely to get chosen. My plans for work experience. I do want to work with a film company. Although it will be difficult to get work experience from people like that, I will try and get into the editing of films or just ghosting in general. If I did get into a set of something involving the production process of a film it would help me so much because it is the way that you get into the media industry.  Why does this industry for work experience interest me? This industry for work experience interests

Animations review

Pyramid Scheme. In an animation about how to spot a pyramid scheme we were told that it depends on having one distributor at the top of that chain that makes money off of people trying to buy and sell their product which is a scam because there is no guarantee that you will make money from this business and it is more likely that you will have to put money into the business yourself meaning, that you will put in more than you get out. The animation was good it was drawn out and then put together in an animation. I like the way it was drawn, it was clear and not too complex. There was narrator telling us what the pyramid scheme was and the whole thing had been explained clearly. The Man. Another animation that we watched showed us that since the beginning of time we have been using recourses from the planet and killing animals and in this case, killing them for pointless stuff such as a plaque, mat,  boots or even a coat. Showing us that we can't keep shooting and killing an

Magazine Project

Image
My magazine project will be a mock-up version and my take on 'empire' magazine. I am going to include an interview with an actor about a film and their personal life etc. I will also include new TV shows and new movies with my recommendations included. I plan to show a timeline of all the new movies and tv shows from now to January 2018 and what is currently shooting, also, what will come out next year. I plan to take on the topic of how technology effects film and if it effect storylines. I want to talk about how scary good 4K is and how much Netflix  use and make film and TV shows in 4K. I want to focus on Superman and him on the Empire front. I willl of course, do my pwn version but these are some one I found that have inspired me. I will do a 'Justice League' version which has not been done yet. I intent to have my version with a different background. Maybe something that tells the auidience that this is different so meybe he could be in the

Negatives for Wonder Woman

According to the ' Rolling Stone ' website, the critics are saying these negatives about the film, Opinions: 1. She gets manipulated constantly 2. She's judged on her looks 3. She's compassionate which is somehow treated as a weakness 4. She keeps pain to herself 5. Didn't break the gender stereotypes. Also, men here are literally explained to be bad by their poisoning from Ares. Conclusion & Reflection: This film has told the world how Wonder Woman's character has and hasn't broken gender stereotypes. In a way, they are right as men are seen as the enemy for the first part of the film before Steve Trevor enters the film and turns himself to be a hero at the end of the film by sacrificing himself. Some of what they said was true however, she does keep pain to herself and she does show compassion which is clearly shown as a weakness by Ludendorff. The fact that this happened in the film can come off as unfair to women as being treated poorl

Short film reviews and tipping points

Act 1 In a forest  Tipping point  Hacked down Act 2 Transported Act 3 Christmas Tree 90 seconds. Act 1 Goes to white cliffs of Dover Tipping point Meets Woman Act 2 start talking Act 3 She is suddenly alone 90 seconds. Act 1 Woman in washing area asleep  Act 2 She puts washing in Tipping point He crawls out of washing machine Act 3 Hold hand out to shake hands Depict: Using Depict, a website filled with 90 second long short films. I watched many films and some of them weren't of my appeal. Of course, they are good because the website shows you that they have won awards but for me, some of them weren't that great. The one I liked the most was Vudu. Act 1 A woman enters the room with a box and many stuffed toys. Act 2 She sits down with some children and hands them out. Tipping point There is a smaller box inside the main box that is filled with pins of which the chil

Narrative structure

Image
Act 1                                   v                               Act 2                                      v                            Act 3                                 Tipping point                                                           Tipping Point   In films, you have 3 act structure where it is basically a beginning a middle and an end. But in between those acts you a have point in which the story changes that provides an action point for the next act and it is where the story changes. This is one of the dramatic events in which you change the story for effect and to either completely change it or lead the film to another scene. In 'Wonder Woman' the first tipping point is where the plane crashes and she has to rescue and save the drowning pilot. Before this point, she is training to fight but she didn't know she had powers and she devastated her opponent with a huge blow. Still learning she is eager to find out more about what she can

Linear and Non linear

Image
Linear means chronological, so this is where a film is played out and the storyline doesn't change to go to previous time whereas Non-linear is where the storyline goes back and forth which is non-sequential because the time changes. This means that when you have a film like Pulp Fiction which changes in the time of storyline all the time this would be seen as non-linear. So when you have a film like Alladin that doesn't change in time this would be seen as chronological. The best reason for having a non-sequential film is to tell the whole story before and after the main event of the film. Or you can have a non-sequential film where the film plays back in order so, this would be where a film starts at the back and works it's way to the start of the film Momento. Another example is La La Land where the whole film was all a dream this is non-linear.

Women in film

A stat taken by me from ‘Women in Film 2016 thumbs down’ showed that only 27% of writers were women in 2016 and only 24% of women reviewed films. This improved form 2014 where there was only 11.2% of women were writers. This is disappointing. Personally, this stat should be higher. It’s not that men are better than say, directing. Take Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman. This film is now the highest grossing movie of all time. Stats: Only 27% of writers are women 24% reviewers are women So this means that women are: 26% Are critics 41% Staff writers 43% Romance writers for movies 27% Comedy writers 22% Horror writers 23% Action writers 16% Sci-Fi writers 23% Drama writers Men outnumbered women in every job title categorised in writing. In the top 100 grossing films of 2016 Women were: Women are 4% Directors 19% Producers 14% Editors 3% Cinematographers 11% Writers Women account for 52% of moviego
