College to date

My time at college so far has been brilliant. I really have enjoyed this so much more from school. At the start of the year when we were getting introduced to all new software. I was already familiar with photoshop but the rest of the programmes? I had no idea. The main factor of the course is to pass, obviously but I don't think really it's all about the work. Those around you have a massive influence, whether the work is to a certain point of view. Perhaps a good point of view or whether the person doesn't like you resulting I them not liking your work and being unhelpful with advice. I find that this hasn't occurred to me which is important.


On the other hand however, the adobe programmes were assigned to my S.M.A.R.T targets by myself at the start of the year. My objective was to get to a stage where I was extremely comfortable with the programmes. I feel as though this target has been reached.



We started off by being assigned the Media Passport Brief. This wasn't easy at first after just having been introduced but eventually, it got easier. This took up half of the first term then we moved on to the more seasonable Christmas Card brief. This brief was allowing me to take shape into being able to work in such a different environment to my previous school. Te fact that I was then able to knuckle down my work was crucial. By the end of this brief which wasn't finished by January 2017, we were introduced to Caller Unknown. This brief was about production and how to make a film. We all each had to make a short film souly based on a mysterious caller. Most of not all of the people in the class took the action adventure genre. The when this was going on, in the meantime we were doing both the animation and comic book google spreadsheets brief. This was a fun task because it gave people so many ideas for the F.M.P. The most recent brief was the Instagram brief where we each had to make our own account and design and take photos for this channel. This was the hardest, not just for the amount of work but of the complexity of it.



All in all, though, I really have enjoyed this year in media thoroughly. I have an idea that I want to pursue in my F.M.P and I really want to pass this to get onto level 3.

Opinion from pitch My pitch was great! I know that I must be more vigilant and thoroughly plan my project out, and I will up my game to aim for the Distinction grade. I know it went well because I knew my point was getting across. The point of this film is the fact that the 'Caterham' is an under-rated underdog supercar that people have overlooked. Or just simply that people don't know about it. So I will teach them not just about the car but the community and the whole prospectus. I knew this was getting across since my presentation was explaining it. Ed told me that my presentation was good so I could tell he knew what I wanted to do. I told him about the community and it says in my presentation that it exists. I hadn't told him statistics yet since I am saving that for my film. 60 Seconds

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKNi9IYfMTc In my 60 second video, I chose to go with tension as my genre. I haven't tried tension and it was something I wanted to do. I liked making this film but at the start, I was aiming for a comedy and I guess it is a bit of both.  From target 3.1 I learned new and interesting shot types such as, a low angle looking up and the high angle looking down which are great to use because they show how a character is feeling. For example, the low angle looking up can show that a character is feeling intimidated and a high angle looking down is the person providing the argument. I learned this through watching 'A few good men" in the "You can't handle the truth" scene.  In my film, I use the low angle facing up to the girl so the guy in the chair was feeling intimidated. For the product assessment, I have asked 4 people to write a short paragraph stating what was good and bad about my film and what I could change. I did this not only because the brief requires it but out of personal interest to see what people made of my film. I was very intrigued by what they thought of it and not for them to just say 'good' but go into detail and perhaps pick my film apart. This method has definitely proven worthy in the past as I have had much feedback on previous short films explaining not only what was wrong but why it was wrong which helped me learn a great deal about me as a director and learn a lot more about my film. I have learned many valuable lessons such as; 'Always keep your target audience in mind' and 'keep the camera work as smooth as possible if it's a crucial scene.'
