  1. What did you hope to find out using the research sources you identified?
Whether I should use a laughing track in my sitcom or not, and I found out that I didn’t have to.
   
  1. Did you produce both primary and secondary research?
Yes, I looked at both subjects and then got a good idea of what I should do and what I should focus on.
  
  1. Which did you find more useful to your idea development?
Definatly primary because it has a personal feeling to it and it applied to my project on a different level to Secondary where I was only able to find out what the facts are.
  1. Did you find out anything new about your proposed idea - eg an artist, director, shooting style or colour scheme?
Yes, I will shoot it like a movie and not use a laughing track. By ‘Shoot it like a movie’ I mean to include a lot of sweep shots, angles all around the characters where as if it was shot like a \TV show then I would only shoot in front of the characters and not around them.
  1. Do you feel more confident about producing your media product after completing your research?
Yes, I’ve got full confidence in my project and I’m ready to move onto Assignment 3.


  1. Can you identify the three most important findings you discovered in your research?
  1. I don't need the laughing track
  2. It will be made and shot like a movie not a TV show
  3. There can only be 1 main character not 3 just focus on one.
  1. What has changed about your idea after you have completed your research?
The perspective I want the characters to have, because before they were just going to be ordinary kids in their normal hilarious daily life but instead I want more of a deeper side to show some meaning so that the audience don’t think that they are complete plonkers.

Opinion from pitch My pitch was great! I know that I must be more vigilant and thoroughly plan my project out, and I will up my game to aim for the Distinction grade. I know it went well because I knew my point was getting across. The point of this film is the fact that the 'Caterham' is an under-rated underdog supercar that people have overlooked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKNi9IYfMTc In my 60 second video, I chose to go with tension as my genre. I haven't tried tension and it was something I wanted to do. I liked making this film but at the start, I was aiming for a comedy and I guess it is a bit of both.  From target 3.1 I learned new and interesting shot types such as, a low angle looking up and the high angle looking down which are great to use because they show how a character is feeling. For example, the low angle looking up can show that a character is feeling intimidated and a high angle looking down is the person providing the argument. I learned this through watching 'A few good men" in the "You can't handle the truth" scene.  In my film, I use the low angle facing up to the girl so the guy in the chair was feeling intimidated. This gives my film a twist because you don't expect the guy in the chair to be intimidated since he is giving the girl orders. I tried to crea

For the product assessment, I have asked 4 people to write a short paragraph stating what was good and bad about my film and what I could change. I did this not only because the brief requires it but out of personal interest to see what people made of my film. I was very intrigued by what they thought of it and not for them to just say 'good' but go into detail and perhaps pick my film apart. This method has definitely proven worthy in the past as I have had much feedback on previous short films explaining not only what was wrong but why it was wrong which helped me learn a great deal about me as a director and learn a lot more about my film. I have learned many valuable lessons such as; 'Always keep your target audience in mind' and 'keep the camera work as smooth as possible if it's a crucial scene.'
