Secondary Research

For my secondary research, I will watch Gavin and Stacey over. I will take notes and imagine it with a crowd. I want to make something like that TV show because it's not got a set and this is why I chose this over other sitcoms. Not having a set gives you flexibility in where and how you shoot your films. For instance, you can shoot a sitcom with no set anywhere and have any shot you want where as with a sitcom with a set you have to have the same shots and the same set.

I need to find a website where there are reviews on Gavin and Stacey like IMDB who rated the series 7.9/10. This could be an inspiration for me as there are so many other TV shows that it has beat. I am confident that I can attempt this and attempt it well.

I have looked up some websites including Wikipedia to find out about how sitcoms usually work. Not always is there a laughing track because it's an option. In most TV sitcoms there is a laughing track but not in movies. In movies, they stick to the serious side and don't go along with a track because really there is no reason for there to be a laughing track. I believe that there should be a track in TV shows and not in movies, simply because that would create a difference…

I think that there is a lot of potential for sitcoms to be the most popular genre as The Big Bang Theory has proven with 19.96 million views on it's most recent completed season (season 9) Perhaps I can take this sort of attitude into the making of my film. By this I mean I want to make a sitcom that links both comedy with typical English internet banter. I like to think that it will be one of a kind. the only exception to this would be The Inbetweeners. This has just the English banter, not the internet part. The IT Crowd is yet another exception but I need to have a laughing track in mine since this was one of the main reasons I chose this genre.

The main part of my idea is, an in-look to typical life in English college education. I think this could reach many because in my survey I got a lot of responses saying that people like shows they can relate to. This is key so I wanted to make sure I could do that in a unique way of my own. I hope that in my film I disclose some of the aspects of what happens in the UK, and things that people in different countries can get a feel for the life in this country typically. I don't think that the actors will find it hard to get into the mood of the role, this is because that this is partly based on their life.
