Best Practice for Portraits
In my Karting poster (red) and my Teen magazine cover photo's I got 3 lights in a studio and but see-through coloured filters and put them over the white lights creating this awesome and colourful effect on my face with the red/ purple. I love the way that it turned out because after all I was only experimenting with this and I decided to keep it over the normal colours of my face. Then I edited the other images too make up for the fact I couldn't use the studio lighting effects. The way that the Time magazine cover was edited was through Filter Gallery which was very suiting and useful for this particular photo. The Karting Magazine photo of me in my suit, in my kart, is a nice photo, especially with the quality.
In this first image, I used a higher ISO because of the dark tone of the room. To make the purple effect, I used filters on the lights using 3 point lighting. I had all the lights on during this photo because I preferred it to having just one. I mixed the filters on the lights as well so as you can see, I only had the filters in the left light and backlight but not in the right light. I have confidence in the fact that the ISO was perfect for this photo since it captured the colour and focus of my face but it also is bright enough for you to see a lot of detail on my hoodie and part of my hair.
In these photos, I experimented with all the different lights on their own not mixed. The only one I mixed was when I put all lights on so that you could compare what it is like to have just one on. The normality of the 'All Lights' show how the ISO was set when taking these pictures so I didn't change it when I experimented with the different lights. I figured that having just the backlight on was almost non-effective. My face isn't highlighted or hardly seen.
